Duke Nukem 3D MOD for Zandronum - Hotkeys & Info

Introduction

Watch the video below for an overview of the Duke Nukem 3D MOD for Zandronum:

About This MOD

This MOD is based on Duke Nukem 3D v10b created by Mr.Ramon and has been extensively modified by Replica from the Duke Nukem community. Replica has rebalanced weapon damage and made other gameplay adjustments to make the experience closer to the original Duke Nukem 3D.

In addition, Replica has spent a great deal of time converting Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition maps into Doom-compatible format for the Zandronum source port. These conversions now include proper netplay support, as the original MOD did not come with online multiplayer from what I remember at least. This enables full Dukematch gameplay on dedicated servers.

The primary reason for this MOD is to provide the Duke Nukem 3D community with the ability to play Dukematches on a dedicated server environment — something that didn’t exist on the current Duke Nukem 3D source ports.

If you would like to help by creating or converting more quality Duke Nukem 3D maps for Dukematch play, please contact Replica on the NukemNet Discord. More maps will help keep the rotation fresh and exciting for the community.

Custom Hotkeys Setup

You can customize hotkeys for items and actions in Zandronum by editing your configuration INI file. The bindings should be placed under the [Doom.Bindings] section in your zandronum.ini file. Below is an example of default hotkey assignments:

f = use "first aid kit"
h = use "hologram of duke"

j = use "jetpack"
l = use "night vision goggles"
b = use "protective boots"
w = use "scuba gear"
s = use "steroids"

tab = toggle freelook; centerview

To change a hotkey, replace the key on the left with your preferred key and save the file. For example, to use 1 for the first aid kit instead of f:

1 = use "first aid kit"

After saving your changes, restart Zandronum to apply them.

Note: Some additional tweaking may be needed for certain gameplay features — for example, setting up separate movement keys for flying with the Jetpack (move up/down) without interfering with your normal jump or crouch bindings.
