What is a Relay Server?
A relay server acts as an intermediary between game clients and servers to help facilitate connections when direct communication is blocked by network restrictions such as NAT or firewalls. This helps players avoid complicated port forwarding setup on their routers.
Essentially, the relay server receives data from one side and forwards it to the other, enabling seamless multiplayer gaming even behind restrictive network configurations.
Note: Because data passes through an additional middleman, using a relay server can introduce a small amount of extra latency or lag compared to direct connections.
